Dr. Pepper Toasts

After the end of the last session of the Midwest Conference Swimming and Diving Championships we have a team celebration including dinner and Dr. Pepper Toasts. It started over a decade ago because former Head Coach Erin Hurley’s favorite drink was Dr.Pepper, and was a good alternative celebration drink. Everyone is given a Dr.Pepper, and then the celebration begins.
Dr. Pepper Toasts started as a way to celebrate and honor the season and give thanks to the people on the team who have helped you. It is totally voluntary. Typically, a toast goes by first standing up, giving a toast, shouting out teammates, sharing stories, and at the end, everyone takes a sip of Dr. Pepper. This goes until everyone who wanted to share had the opportunity to. It is a great way to end the season and can be quite emotional, especially for seniors, as it serves as their final goodbye to the sport.
