Community Service
Every month, the team is involved with some form of community service. Here are some of the activities that we did during the 24-25′ school year:
Kites over Grinnell

Every year the swim team will work at different stations at Kites over Grinnell. It is typically the first community service of the year, and a fun way to kick off the school year and the swim season!
Hour of Power

Every November, we participate in the Hour of Power relay to raise money for Sarcoma research. Hour of Power Relay to raise money and awareness for Sarcoma and other rare pediatric cancers. This consists of an hour of sprinting various strokes in a relay fashion. It was started after former Carlton swimmer Ted Mullin, tragically passed away in 2006 from a rare soft-tissue disease called Sarcoma. This event was created in his name and now includes over 170 swim teams across the country to help raise awareness and money for The Ted Mullin Fund for Pediatric Sarcoma Research at the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital. It has been an Grinnell Annual tradition for nearly 20 years.
Mayflower Community

During the 2024-25 season, the team went to the Mayflower Community homes during Halloween to talk with and help those who live or have family members at Mayflower.
Community Meal

In April, the swim and dive team hosted a community meal at the Methodist Church in town. The team prepped and made the entire meal for the night. The menu for the night was grilled cheese, tomato soup, fresh fruit, and brownies for dessert. It was a great opportunity for the team to build connections with the town, especially with the assistant coach being from Grinnell.
