Who is a part of the swim and dive team?
— The swim and dive team is made up of nearly 70 Grinnell College students who encompass all majors and concentrations.
Who are the “ducks” and the “dawgs”?
— The women’s team is called the “ducks” and the men’s team is called the “dawgs”. No one knows the true reasons why.
What is the point of swimming or diving?
— Why not? It’s fun and creates a community of people you can hang out with, eat meals with, or do school work with
Why was there a group of bald men all at one table in D-Hall?
— There is a tradition on the men’s team where they shave their heads before conference (the final meet of the season) and most of the men decided to participate this year, thus when all of them were together in D-hall, it was a mass of bald men.
Why do you dress up crazy and walk into D-hall?
— That is our “King of Hearts” tradition. If you want to learn more, it can be found under the “Traditions” section.
Why does the swim team spend so much time in the Grill?
— Where else would such a large team hang out between classes or at night?
Why is the team so weird?
— We choose to spend hours at a time staring at a black line with minimal oxygen or flipping so fast you lose where you are. That can make anybody a little crazy.
